I was bored so I went through this thread for app ideas and I picked one I thought I could do quickly. Original request.
It fetches the pic from http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ and sets it as your home screen background. I banged it together in a few hours so I’m making no guarantees of stability, but it works pretty well for me so far. Only for 2.0+ at the moment because WallpaperManager didn’t exist before then (if someone knows of another way to do it let me know! there is a method for 1.5 and 1.6, but I haven’t got around to it yet
).
I emailed the NASA guys for permission (it was the coolest email I ever typed) and they said it would be okay to release. Hope y’all enjoy it.
I’ve had more downloads in the last 24 hours than for my other apps combined! I’ve just uploaded an update, which should hopefully help with the update problems some people were having. Any other features you’d like to see, just ask! More stuff will be coming as the weeks go on!
Posting update here so it’s more visible.

This is only my second Android app and my first widget. Really just doing this to learn, but if people want to use it, here you go! It’s on the market and also on Google Code.
New version adds some extra settings (adds support for specifying tags, changing the StackExchange site, setting update interval), changes styles.

Android 1.6+
Source on Google Code. I warn you, it isn’t the prettiest. Not well documented ATM but as I add features I’ll comment it up.
I’ve never really had a blog before, but now I’m the developer of 1 mildly popular app and one slightly popular app, I needed a place for updates and such. I’ll try to post changelogs for updates, and explanations when something breaks (often!). Please post any suggestions or comments you might have, I welcome them all.
